#ONEWord: REVERSE

2 Kings 20:1-6

In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”
2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, Lord, how I have walkedbefore you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
4 Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him: 5 “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord. 6 I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’”

Greetings!
BlogFam, I am very well aware that in order to make progress, I must move forward.  However, at the same time, there are moments in our lives where we must experience redirection, some form of reversing of a decision or consequence that also moves us forward.  Think of a car.  Think of a parked car that can only get out of its parking space by putting it in reverse so that it can move forward.  If the car is unable to shift into reverse in order to get out of its parking space, then it will more than likely not be able to move forward to the intended destination.  Thus the decision to go backwards in order to move forward is a necessary step in fulfilling the purpose of the one in the driver's seat.

For the last few posts, we have focused on ONE Word and today's post in no different.  The word of the day is  REVERSE.  The word reverse is an adjective meaning opposite or contrary in position, direction, order or character.  It is acting in a manner opposite or contrary to that which is usual.  And I believe that is what we see in these few verses.  The passage opens one way but by the end of the selected verses the King's situation is going in the opposite or contrary direction of the prophet's original declaration.  And seemingly, as a direct consequence of the King's prayer, he experiences a shift, a divine reverse that extends his life moving him forward in the opposite or contrary direction of a sickness that was unto death.

The REVERSE...

“Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord. 6 I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’”

BlogFam, have you ever experienced a divine reversal that worked in your favor?  I know that you may or may not have thought that you deserved such grace but in God's infinite wisdom and omnipotence, your life shifts and it goes in the opposite or contrary direction of death, destruction, pain, or suffering.  And as much JOY as I can imagine filled the king's heart, I am so eternally grateful that this amazing grace is extended to you and I.  We, too, can experience a divine reverse that redirects our life or extends our life or increases our life in unimaginable ways.

“Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you.
