HAPPY NEW YEAR! My Reflections on My Holy Week Revival
Posted on April 15, 2017 at 8:40 AM |
![]() |
April 15, 2017 Humming… “I just want to
THANK YOU-U Lord…” Greetings! Friends, I do not know if you
are familiar with the revivals of old.
The revivals hosted by churches that lasted a full week and the guest
evangelist preached every night like it was their last. Do you remember how each night had a
different population emphasis – Youth Night, Women’s Night, Men’s Night, Healing
Night, Bring a Friend Who Really Needs Jesus Night? Revivals of old were week-long gatherings to
call people to repentance, restoration, righteousness, and rejoicing. I know I would be worn out physically but
excited spiritually at the end of summer revival at my home church. Week long revivals are
somewhat obsolete these days and have turned into month long revivals hosted on
the same night as your regular Bible Study because pastors know or assume the
congregation will probably not commit to going to church every night for a week
unless it is your denominational, musical, or popular preaching personality’s
annual convention, convocation, or conference.
Churches have also opted for a three-night revival with a different
preacher each night in an effort to peak interests and keep people coming
because who wants to hear the same person three nights in a row? [Sarcasm Intended] And while
the traditional notions of hosting week long revivals may have evolved through the
years, the necessity for our need of revival has remained the same. We ALL need to be intentional
about creating our own revival and we do not have to wait for our local church
to do that. You can initiate a time
where you get the spiritual jolt you need to intensify your relationship with
the Lord and increase the expectation of yourself to answer the call to serve
and build the Kingdom of God. We all
need a revival of the soul, reawakening our spiritual consciousness so that we
can experience God’s will on earth as it is in heaven. We need revivals to open our hearts to the
ways we need to be renewed for the journey and open our eyes to see how we can
help others experience the same hope and provision that comes when we actually
obey the Greatest Commandment to love God, love ourselves, and to love our
neighbors as we love ourselves. Well, friends, this has been
that kind of week for me. It has been
full of the Word, and Worship. It has
been a time for me to reflect and respond to God’s call in new ways. It has been a week of revival without the
guest evangelist or the themed nights.
It has been a week of service, gratitude, prayer, preaching, and
praise. On Monday evening I sat with a
friend for a few hours who was not feeling the best. On Tuesday, I led the prayer at a Holy Week
Prayer Service with an evangelistic emphasis and my prayer focused on believers
having the compassion, courage, and conviction to live a life full of God’s
light shining in and through us. On
Wednesday, I taught a group of church leaders a lesson on their responsibility to
be watchful over the flock and to not be afraid to address the false prophets
or false teachings that come through the mouths of wolves in sheep’s
clothing. On Thursday, a group of
friends and I launched The Living Room Christian Fellowship, an ecumenical gathering
of believers who come together to seek, to serve, and to celebrate….more on
that later. And on Friday, I preached
the second of the seven last words, “Today, you shall be with me in paradise.” I preached it from the perspective and as a
testimony of the thief who received that promise from Jesus on the cross. Friends, I have been in
revival this entire Holy Week. I have
cried, repented, recommitted, fasted, prayed, witnessed, and rejoiced. And words cannot express how blessed I am as
I have been reminded everyday this week of God’s amazing love! I have been revived. I have been revived so much so, and I have mentioned
this before, that I feel as if NOW is the time to say HAPPY NEW YEAR! As we look at the full spectrum of the Gospel
message from Good Friday to early Sunday morning, as much as I celebrate Jesus birth
and His entrance into this earthly realm, I am overwhelmed with thanksgiving
and praise that he came to die and he rose just for me! The grave is empty and he is the risen King
of Kings and Lord of Lords, now seated at the right hand of the Almighty God! Hallelujah!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Now, I want to backtrack for
a minute because I just have to say something more about the launch of The
Living Room Christian Fellowship. WOW! Ok. Yes, I know I need to say something more than
WOW! And I will… in just a second…
but WOW! This week was the inaugural
gathering of The Living Room Christian Fellowship. Nearly two years ago, the Holy Spirit
impressed upon me a vision for a gathering of believers for Word, Conversation,
and Communion. The vision was to create
an alternative worship experience with the intention of hosting it in a space
that embodied the name. In other words, this space needed to be a fresh, comfortable,
hospitable place that nurtured spiritual growth, deep conversations, authentic relationships. And it could only last for one hour. I will not go into every instruction that I
was given regarding The Living Room, but suffice it to say that everything that
is present and everything that takes place in that space is intentional and my
humble attempt to be obedient. I will be
very honest with you though. When I first
received this vision, I did not think that it was for me. I was thinking about ways I could share it
with the church I was serving at the time or even how I might can share it with
other pastor friends of mine. But I
never did. I actually did not tell
anyone what I had been thinking and praying about for about one year. I was just dreaming, and planning, and
envisioning, and praying for clarity and confidence to do ministry differently. I will definitely write more about my process
in the future because I believe it could help others who are considering
initiating a new ministry initiative or even help other church leaders to
revive their current place of service. On Thursday, we launched The Living
Room Christian Fellowship and it looked and felt even better than I had
dreamed. I am so grateful to EVERYONE
for their prayers, presence, “Like” or “Share” on Facebook and Instagram,
financial support, words of encouragement and congratulations, and positive
thoughts in our direction. Above all,
THANK YOU LORD for choosing to give me this vision and for already providing
the provision to bring it to pass. THANK
YOU for the many Thursday nights we will have to introduce Christ, have
conversations about Christ, and celebrate Christ through Communion. THANK YOU for the people who will be drawn to
The Living Room and how they will find new friends who want to see EVERYONE
experience LIFE, LOVE, LIBERATION, and LAUGHTER in Christ! THANK YOU LORD for a space where revival can
happen every week because we all need it and we all should want to share this
grace with others. THANK YOU LORD for
family and friends who believe in YOU and ME.
THANK YOU LORD for The Living Room Christian Fellowship. This is YOUR Space. May we honor YOU and YOUR sons and daughters,
our friends and guests, who will gather with us there. HAPPY NEW YEAR, my friends! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Revive us again, fill each
heart with Thy love May each soul be rekindled
with fire from above Hallelujah! Thine the Glory! Hallelujah! Amen! Hallelujah! Thine the Glory! Revive us again! GOD LOVES YOU and I DO TOO!!! Delesslyn |
HOW WILL THIS BE???
Posted on January 23, 2016 at 6:41 AM |

Greetings! BlogFam, I am very encouraged by the promises of God that I read throughout the Bible. I read and confess those words and my Spirit is uplifted, comforted, challenged, assured, and excited that God's promises are YES and AMEN. I believe that ALL of God's promises are available to manifest in my life. I believe that. I really do. But then, I must admit that there are times when I, like Mary, will ask the same question she asked in Luke 1:28 - “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” Now, in my own situations of life, I, and probably many of you as well, have replaced the word virgin with words like these... HOW WILL THIS BE SINCE I AM....
Friends, I love this interaction between Mary and the messenger Angel. On one hand, Mary has a very practical question. How can a young lady have a baby who is still a virgin? She does not understand how it is even possible for a virgin to conceive without having had intercourse. That is a valid and very practical concern. On the other hand, her question reveals her inexperience with the power of the Almighty God to do what seems to be impractical and even impossible in our lives. This is where so many of us hang our hats, park our cars, get relaxed, and give up. We have read the promises of God and heard the promises of God BUT the promises of God and the call or assignment of God for our lives does not seem at all practical or possible. And so we also ask, HOW WILL THIS BE SINCE I AM (and you fill in the blank) ___________________??? BlogFam, on today, I encourage you, while we are still in this first month of a new year, GIVE YOUR THOUGHTS of impracticality and impossibility to the GOD who can and will fulfill all promises in our lives! And yes, I am speaking to myself too. I know this to be true. And yet I am grateful to read and re-read the angel's response to Mary's concern. Do you remember the angel's response to Mary? “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.” In other words, in response to your questions of impracticality and impossibility, the same word to YOU is this: The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So that the promises of God to you will come forth through you. And if you look around, there are witnesses who have already experienced God making the impractical, practical and the impossible, possible. For every word of God will come to pass. God never fails. And with God ALL things are possible. I repeat. The Holy Spirit will come upon YOU and the power of the Most High will overshadow YOU. So that the promises of God to YOU will come forth through YOU. And if YOU look around, there are witnesses who have already experienced God making the impractical, practical and the impossible, possible. For every word of God will come to pass. God never fails. And with God ALL things are possible. And upon assurance of God's promises through God's messenger, Mary responds as I hope that you will... “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” BlogFam, May the word of God be fulfilled in your life! I pray that you would remove all of your excuses and roadblocks in your thought life that make God's promises seem unavailable to you. I pray that you would completely surrender to God all that seems to be impractical and/or impossible. I pray that you would just be OPEN to the newness of life. I pray that you would believe that God's promises are YES and AMEN for your life just as much or even more than you already believe it to be so for others. I pray that you would be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord so that when God's messenger comes to you to speak LIFE, you will receive it and align your life to see it come to pass. Servants of the Lord, May God's word and every promise of God's word be fulfilled in YOUR life on this day and forevermore! GOD WILL MAKE A WAY... TO GOD BE THE GLORY! GOD LOVES YOU and I DO TOO! Blessings, Glory, and Sunshine! Delesslyn |
#RepositionYOURSELF: Live Right, Shift Right

Greetings! This post is for VISIONARIES. I am one of them. And I am not sure how this post will actually end or even what direction I am headed but I know this... I do feel a stirring in this season of my life and even possibly in the lives of others for us to SHIFT NOW! I do not know exactly what that means for the particularity of your situation but I do know this to be true: The SHIFT that you make in this season MUST be a holistic turnaround for every area of your life. In other words, mind, body, and spirit will feel the impact of your shift in this season. This cannot be a New Year's resolution or a singular item on your "To Do List" for next week or next month. The time is NOW. I have been thinking and praying about this for a while now as it relates to my own life and I have learned that NOW is the time for me to put all the pieces together for this season. Next season, I may experience something different and that is OK but I have decided and I am determined that I do NOT want to miss what God has for me NOW. With all of that being said, I know that part of the shift is simply the DISCIPLINE to do what needs to be done in order to reach the goals, experience the change, see the transformation I want in my life. Everything must be re-evaluated - including how I spend my time, what conversations I have with others, and where I invest my money. When people say that they are OPEN, most of the time they are only open to more of what makes them comfortable in the place they are. BUT when you are truly OPEN to the leading, guiding, and directing of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit cannot be made subject to your personal preferences or limitations. And because the promise in the Word of God is that NO GOOD THING will the Lord hold back from us, well, I am crazy enough to believe that in this next chapter, phase, season of my life - and even in your life - God WILL do whatever God says God will do. But let me be responsible with the text and with my encouragement on today. Here is the verse in its entirety because there is a very clear parameter around this promise: PSALM 84:11 - FOR THE LORD IS A SUN AND SHIELD: THE LORD WILL GIVE GRACE AND GLORY: NO GOOD THING WILL HE WITHHOLD FROM THEM THAT WALK UPRIGHTLY. And there it is! Friends, we must LIVE RIGHT in order to SHIFT into the RIGHT direction! The Word that the Lord has spoken over my life AND the instructions that have been given for my next step, may not be the same for you. That is OK. I am not worried about that. I am most concerned that you do "WALK UPRIGHTLY" and remain OPEN for the SHIFT that God wants to do in your life RIGHT NOW! Your shift might entail preparation or collaboration, disconnection or redirection, activity or more responsibility, networking or job searching. I do not know but I do care. So, on today, I want to PRAY for all of my brothers and sisters who are OPEN to whatever SHIFT God desires to make in your life in advance of 2015. I am praying for those who do not want to wait until the last month of the year to prepare for the greater that is coming when we enter the new year; yet have not dismissed the possibilities for God to continue to answer prayer's in the remainder of THIS year. I am praying for those who will pray and praise the Lord for all that has already happened in your life and for this restlessness in your spirit letting you know that your best is still yet to come. I am praying for those who are living right in order to shift into the RIGHT direction. I am praying for YOU and I believe that God will bless YOU and bless YOU indeed as you trust and obey God's leading, guiding, and directing through this SHIFT. GOD LOVES YOU and I DO TOO!!! A Few Random Thoughts About VISION...
Posted on January 22, 2013 at 8:11 AM |
![]() |
A Few Random Thoughts About VISION... VISION = Vision Is Seeing Inspired Opportunities Now Vision is seeing inspired opportunities now - MEANING: There are opportunities that await our initiative and at the right moment the Holy Spirit orchestrates the time for us to become fully aware that the opportunity is ours and that we have been created to meet the demands of such opportunity partly because we can SEE it and partly because we can SEE ourselves as responsible and responsive to it...NOW! There are so many things that have happened in our lives that bring us to "NOW." Some events are planned, others are unplanned. Some events are controllable, others are completely out of our control. The bottom line concern in the moment depends on what you SEE - NOW. And herein lies your VISION. Too often we see the VISION for our lives by solely focusing on the external factors and thereby slightly and often completely dismissing the internal passions - creativity - wisdom - divine inspiration inside because in the moment, what we think we SEE inside is not enough... not realizing that those seeds of the holy that were planted in us at creation, when we were formed in our mother's womb, are full of the potential to accomplish exceeding abundantly above whatever we ask or think according to the POWER that worketh IN us. And when the moment is right and ripe, the divine orders our steps in the direction of opportunities that we can SEE NOW. VISION = Vision Is Seeing Inspired Opportunities Now The truth is that these opportunities are already there all along BUT we are often so blinded by the disappointments, insults, inadequacies, ignorance we SEE in ourselves or in others or that others have expressed that they see in us that we miss the gift of SIGHT and seeing beyond and through and around the B.S. - The Barriers to the Spirit, the Blind Spots, if you will. Friends, I pray that moving forward we would seek the ways to fertilize and nurture the seeds of vision/potential that have always been inside. I pray for a heightened awareness of inspired opportunities that welcome the use of our gifts to meet the needs of the moment - however long the moment lasts... VISION = Vision Is Seeing Inspired Opportunities Now I hope that YOU will declare: I will NOT miss another inspired opportunity to respond to what I SEE. Thank You Lord for sight/vision/a heightened awareness of the opportunities available and the potential accessible inside of me to meet the needs of THIS moment... NOW! TGBTG! Boundaries and Cut Offs In JESUS Name! - John 15:1-11
Posted on January 16, 2013 at 9:56 AM |
![]() |
Boundaries and
Cut Offs in Jesus Name! John 15:1-11 Greetings! BlogFam, I make
intentional efforts to be aware of the boundaries in the various types of
relationships I have with people. I know
that we really do not like to talk about boundaries but we all have them. We all know how far we will let people go
with us and we all know that we can only go so far with some people. There are certain conversations I will not
have and a limited amount of time that I will share with certain people. We all have boundaries. Boundaries in
relationships rise and fall for lots of reasons that I will not explore in this
post. However, I invite you to look at
our text for today because – though we may NOT want to accept this reality –
the text is clear that even Jesus has boundaries AND Jesus has Cut offs! And before I go all the way there, let me ask
YOU… Do you have any
Cut Offs? Is there anybody in your life
that you have cut off? Is there a relationship
in your life that is fractured, broken, in disrepair? I admit that I
have made some cut offs and I do not doubt that I have been cut off by some
people for reasons that I will not recall in this post. I think it is all a part of our life’s
journey…. Boundaries and cut offs. And we even have a biblical model for doing
so in JESUS’ name and for JOY’S sake… [John 15:1-11] “I am the
true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He
cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that
does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You
are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain
in me, as I also remain in you. No
branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you
bear fruit unless you remain in me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you
remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do
nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like
a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown
into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and
my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for
you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you
bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. “As the Father has loved me, so have I
loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my
commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s
commands and remain in his love. I have told you
this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
BOUNDARIES in Jesus Name While I am
persuaded that the LOVE of GOD has NO boundaries, NO limits, NO borders, NO
end, I am also convinced that the restrictions we encounter between and amongst
each other are a result of placing boundaries upon the way we share the LOVE of
GOD between and amongst each other as a people.
Let me explain. In other words,
when we do NOT feel loved, it is NOT because GOD does not LOVE us or because
God’s LOVE cannot reach us or because God’s LOVE skipped over us. Many times, when we or those with whom we
interact do not feel loved, it is because those around them have restricted the
ways in which they choose to show love. On the flip side,
I am simultaneously convinced that the boundaries we set in our various
relationships can rise and fall, reduce and expand based in direct relation to
our own capacity to allow the LOVE of GOD to fill us and flow through us. Furthermore, we cannot be necessarily
responsible for how others receive the love we share because we cannot always
fully discern their personal boundaries or limitations to accept or reject
true, neighborly love. However, as the
branches connected to the vine, this passage is clear in its directive to LOVE
GOD and out of our LOVE for GOD we will OBEY GOD in every area of our lives and
in every relationship. When we do experience
the constraints of our own passions and desires, goodwill and positive thinking,
it just might be the case that we have overstepped our bounds as it relates to
the directions the Lord would have the branches to grow. Thus, in an effort to help us to remain in
HIS LOVE – not just our own passion or desires or goodwill or positive thinking
which can be tempered by the restrictions we place on certain relationships that
might need more LOVE than of our own volition would be personally justified in
not extending but spiritually obligated to LOVE anyway – the Lord will prune us
so that the LOVE that HE has will be able to fill us and flow through us. So, the “twist,”
if you will, is that there really are NO boundaries to the love we are to show
to our neighbors in Jesus name. For if
we remain in HIS LOVE, the same love that flows through the pulse of the vine
from which the branches extend MUST also flow with NO boundaries, NO limits, NO
borders, NO end. We are to LOVE as God
LOVES. CUT OFFS in Jesus
Name He cuts off every
branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear
fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. BlogFam, we had
to read that one verse one more time because I do NOT want you to think I was
making it up. I think that this is one
of those verses in the Bible that some of us would much rather ignore than
confront because this verse, in context, confronts the true intentions and
productiveness of our faithfulness. And
the question we MUST all answer today is this: Are You bearing fruit? The answer is YES or NO! He cuts off every
branch in me that bears no fruit… This, alone, is a
hard pill to swallow. We do NOT want to
be cut off or rejected or cast aside or dismissed by anyone, let alone
Jesus! We just got through discussing
the endless capacity of GOD’S LOVE and now we are focusing on a verse about
cutting branches off. YES we did and YES
we are. And the truth is that cut offs
happen in Jesus Name. How do cut offs
happen? Well, I believe that cut offs
happen in a variety of ways AND if we all were to step back for a moment, we would
really come to agree that cut offs are
necessary and Jesus is doing the right thing. It is still true
that there are NO boundaries, NO limits, NO borders, NO end to the LOVE of GOD
and it is God’s desire to fill us with this kind of love so that it can flow
through us. However, as the Master
Gardener of the Kingdom of God, as God “walks” through the garden, inspecting
every branch that is connected to the vine, decisions have to be made in order
for the garden to flourish, in order for the garden to be fruitful. In other words, cut offs, suspensions, denials,
dismissals, sit downs, and shut outs have to occur for the work of God to
continue. Let me say it even more
plainly. If there is any branch that is
growing out of order, twisting out of turn, going in its own direction, hiding
behind other branches, or refusing to blossom while connected to the True Vine,
the Master Gardener wisely addresses every need for the good of the Kingdom and
a cut off in Jesus name just might be necessary. Now, this cut off
is not like the cut off you or I might be apt to do when things are not going
as we intended. We might just cut off
and leave whomever it is unattended and alone.
But because of the magnificent LOVE of the Master Gardener, I believe
that grace and mercy will allow the branches that must be pruned and most
especially those that have been cut off to be restored in LOVE. And if that branch continues to refuse,
reject, disrespect, or disengage the LOVE of GOD in the garden of the Kingdom,
then one day – and no one knows when that day is – If
you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers;
such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. So, LET US REMAIN
in Jesus Name If you keep my commands, you will remain
in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his
love. My Sisters and Brothers, Will YOU remain? Will you choose to
allow the LOVE of GOD to fill you and flow through you? Will you choose to be faithful and thereby a fruitful
branch, showing that you are indeed a disciple of Jesus Christ? OR Will you continue to toy with the grace and
mercy of God as an unproductive branch in the Kingdom? If you keep my commands, you will remain
in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his
love. YES there are BOUNDARIES
in Jesus name and YES there are CUT OFFS in Jesus name. AND we are called and commanded to REMAIN in
the boundaries of His Love and clear inspection so as not to be cut off in
Jesus Name. I have told you this so that my joy – GOD’S JOY
- may be in you and that your JOY may be complete. GOD LOVES YOU AND
I DO TOO!!! Delesslyn FOLLOW on Twitter @AudraSushine or @SpiritedConcept JOIN a NEW Social Media Movement - MY VISION FAST: It's Time For You To SEE! JANUARY 7-27, 2013 FOLLOW @MyVISIONFast JOIN Facebook Group at www.facebook.com/groups/MyVISIONFast and |
