I Thank God I Can Do Whatever!

3:17 Thank God I Can Do Whatever! C lick or copy and paste link to listen now!! I have shared an audio update using #Cinch, check it out: http://t.co/2Jl2YmKQ #blog #Jesus Greetings!!! BlogFam,Greetings! I Thank God I Can Do Whatever! I can only imagine the thoughts that went through some of your minds when you read the title of today's blog post. Thank God I can do Whatever! The mere thought of being able to live a life free of restrictions and undefined limits is a pleasant thought to some of you. And if you are thinking that you would not take this title that far , well have you ever at least espoused the idea that this is your life and you can live it however you want to live it? If you have then you also were excited about our title for today. There is something very intriguing and exhilarating about being able to live your life however you want to live it. There is something special about thinking that you can dance to the beat of your own drum, fly by the seat of your own pants. Thus it is no surprise that your interest was peaked at the sight of the title of today's blogpost: Thank God I can do whatever! And now that i have your attention, let's reread our verse for today. Colossians 3:17 NIV And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Wow! Well blogfam, contrary to our expectations, there is one major criterion to our "whatever" that informs our thanksgiving. Yes we can thank God that we can do whatever as long as... "whatever" we do, whether in word or deed, is done in the name of the Lord Jesus! In other words, as long as whatever I do in my life and my lifestyle is done in the name of the Lord my thanksgiving will be a natural, appropriate and well balanced response of obedience. The parameters around my "whatever" do not dictate my giving thanks but the protection that those parameters provide give me an unquestionable single reason to praise the Lord! While there are some of you who thrive on the thrill of risking your life to do whatever you want to do, there are some of us who rejoice that the restrictions the Lord has set, to do all things in his name, provides divine clarity, distinctive direction, and predestined possibilities! Thank God i can do whatever! This is not a praise without regards to your personal choices to live your life anyway you choose. No! This is a praise that holds in the highest regard the will of God. This kind of praise rejoices that in the wisdom of the Almighty we can choose to do "whatever" or we can do whatever we do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. So what will it be? From what perspective will you thank God for whatever? Whatever choices will you now make in order to live a life of thanksgiving unto God? Will you choose to commit yourself to doing whatever you do in the name of the Lord Jesus? BlogFam, what will your whatever be? I thank God I Can Do Whatever!!! PS... I am still blogging on the go... 3:17 REAL TALK

Posted on May 19, 2012 at 12:13 PM Comments comments (0)
3:17 REAL TALK CLICK or COPY & PASTE LINK TO LISTEN NOW!!! http://cinch.fm/spiritedconcept/475784 Greetings! BlogFam, Colossians 3:17 NIV And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus... OK. REAL TALK... So what does this phrase mean? What does it mean to do it ALL in the name of Jesus? What exactly does it mean to do ANYTHING in the name of the Lord Jesus? I am sure you have possibly said or heard this phrase so many times. But what does it really mean? I know the name of Jesus. I know who Jesus is as Lord. I know that there is no other name like Jesus. And I know I should not use Jesus name in vain. So how does one reverently do all things IN the name of the Lord Jesus? I believe that this is an important question for all of us to consider. For while we might be familiar with praying in the name of Jesus because that is what Jesus taught us explicitly to do for He is our advocate to the Heavenly Father. We can grasp that concept more readily because of the picture that is painted in our minds of Jesus standing at the right hand of the Heavenly throne pleading our case. We can understand this phrase, "IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS" in terms of prayer. But how does it relate to every other WORD or DEED in our lives? Besides, does anyone besides me think that this is alot to consider? Must the Lord Jesus be a consideration in everything...in ALL things...in WHATEVER we do? Well, my friends, we all probably know the answer to the last question... YES. We know that on some level we must consult heaven for direction and guidance and leadership but the truth is that we often might feel as though asking the Lord Jesus about every detail and decision in our lives might be a little too much. There are some choices we make that intentionally ignore heaven's sanction. There are some words we use that are not at all reflective of the Fruit of the Holy Spirit. There are some deeds we participate in that fall outside of what it means to be holy. Yet my Friends, in this verse we are encouraged to do it all IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS. This is a tall order, a high standard, a seemingly insurmountable feat. But no exceptions are provided, no caveats are prescribed, and no contingencies are proffered. Ladies and gents, it just is what it is AND what it is will never change. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS, giving thanks to God the Father through him. So how do we relate this admonition to every other WORD or DEED in our lives? What do we need to do or have or be or give in order for everything to be done IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS? Well, Im glad you want to know and Im glad we do not have to go very far to find the answer. The answer is just a few verses earlier in the same chapter of Colossians 3... Colossians 3:1-4 NIV Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. I like the way the MESSAGE BIBLE breaks this down... Colossians 3:1-4 MSG So if you're serious about living this new resurrection life with Christ, act like it. Pursue the things over which Christ presides. Don't shuffle along, eyes to the ground, absorbed with the things right in front of you. Look up, and be alert to what is going on around Christ—that's where the action is. See things from his perspective. Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life—even though invisible to spectators—is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you'll show up, too—the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ. Sistas and brothas, this is how we do it ALL in the name of the Lord Jesus!!! And as we are raised, set, hidden, act, pursue, look up, stay alert, and are content in and with Christ, then WHATEVER we do, whether in word or deed, it will be done IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS!!! Now that's REAL TALK!!! PS... I am still blogging on the go... More details in due season... Thanks for your patience!!! God loves You and I do Too!!! 3:17 DO IT AGAIN!!! Colossians 3:17

3:17 Do it AGAIN!!! CLICK or COPY & PASTE to LISTEN NOW: http://cinch.fm/spiritedconcept/474984 Greetings! Blogfam, In our previous post, I asked you the question...What are YOU doing? And I suggested that our best response to that question is the sentiment expressed in our theme verse for this series... Colossians 3:17 NIV And whatever you DO, whether in word or deed, DO it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. On today, I am not simply asking you to respond to the question - What are YOU doing? Today I am admonishing you to DO IT AGAIN!!! And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus... AGAIN & AGAIN!!! Im sure you have heard the expression that: Foolishness is when you do the same thing over and over again and expect different results. This is not an overly difficult concept to grasp. For, in essence, it is challenging one to DO something different in order to get different results; to adjust one's expectations and process toward achieving such expectations when whatever is being done is not working. This popular sentiment encourages us to STOP doing what we are doing because to continue to do the same thing would be foolishness! So how does this work when we apply this popular sentiment with the activity we do on behalf of the Kingdom of God? I ask this question because there will be so many words we will use and deeds we will complete in the name of Jesus Christ but the desired results will not meet our personal expectations. When we do the right things, say the right things, or go the right places, we expect to see good and favorable results. When we do our best to DO and SAY the right things that would be pleasing to God, we do not want to feel like fools or appear as if we are choosing to be foolish because we keep on doing the same thing. Friends, this can be a hard place to be for people of faith. When we walk by faith and not by sight, as often and as much as we might do or say the right things, the end result or the consequences of walking by faith may not lead to the results or consequences that we might expect and when we continue to DO the same things over and over again, the repetition can make us look foolish.... Especially when we make the same right choices over and over in the name of Jesus. This is a hard place to be. It is hard and often discouraging to pray and praise and worship and give and sacrifice and serve and fellowship and go to church and go to bible study and go to Sunday School and participate in Small Groups and to obey the Scripture.....AGAIN and AGAIN when you are not getting the results you expected to get. It is hard to... (Colossians 3:5, 8-10, 12-17 NIV) Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry - AGAIN. It is hard to now also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips - AGAIN. It is hard not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator - AGAIN. It is hard to therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone - AGAIN. It is hard to Forgive as the Lord forgave you - AGAIN and AGAIN. It is hard and just seems downright foolish to AGAIN and AGAIN to over all these virtues put on love, which binds us all together in perfect unity.....To Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful..... To Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts - AGAIN and AGAIN. Blogfam, It is hard AND we might look and sound foolish but we MUST resolve and commit ourselves to DO IT ALL AGAIN!!! And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. PS... I am still blogging on the go... More details in due season... Thanks for your patience!!! God loves You and I do Too!!! What are YOU doing? Greetings!!! Blogfam, what are YOU doing? I know that one of the most obvious answers is that you are reading or listening to this blog post.... Duh! LOL! Well I had to ask you directly because I make no automatic assumptions because you just never know and common sense just ain't so common! So now I guess you want to ask me the same thing. What are YOU doing? And that is a fair question to ask. As I write today's post, I am feeling quite tired. It has been an intense week but my exhaustion does not alleviate or dismiss my responsibility to maintain my commitment to share a daily spirited concept with you. While some of you would totally understand and would thereby excuse me from today, I am clear that others in my Blogfam are already a little testy because I am posting so late in the day. But ino matter where you fall, I LOVE YA BLOGFAM!!! And i thank you for reading, listening, or sharing the blog! The question for our consideration on today is a very important one to ask. We actually ask the question casually and carelessly all the time whether we really want to know the answer to the question or not. Friends, what are YOU doing? Today I ask you this question in the context of our verse.... Colossians 3:17 NIV And whatever you DO, whether in word or deed, DO it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. The truth is that all of us are doing something. Even when you think you are doing nothing, you are doing something. Make no mistake about it. You are doing something. You are going somewhere. You are saying something. You are doing something great or small, loving or hateful, cool or lame, new school or old school. YOU are doing something. Oh yes you are! YOU really are. So what are YOU doing? I am not trying to get all up in your business but.... Well actually I take that back. Yes I am! I asked you a question and I am not backing down. I am not running from what i think might be your answer and I can take whatever you choose to share. What are YOU doing? Yes i am asking you again because I want you to answer not only to me but more importantly, I want you to answer that question for yourself and to God. (Hint... Hint... God already knows the answer) Blogfam please do not ignore the question of the hour. We have come too far together for you to get quiet on me.... On yourself... Or with God. Blogfam what are you doing? I do not know how you would answer this question but I do know how I hope and pray that all of us would answer... And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. In other words, friends I pray that whatever YOU are doing... Not your mom or dad, brother or sister, friend or neighbor, classmate or co-worker... YOU. I pray that whatever you are doing, wherever you are doing it, whenever you are doing it, whoever you are doing it with, and however you are doing it.... That you are doing it ALL in the name of Jesus Christ!!! That's it. That's all i wanted to know. I hope you get it. Blogfam, QUESTION: what are you doing? BEST ANSWER: whatever i am doing, I am doing it ALL in the name of Jesus Christ! PS... One more time... What are you doing? PS... I am still blogging on the go... More details in due season... WHATEVER! Colossians 3:17

Posted on May 16, 2012 at 12:24 PM Comments comments (0)
3:17 WHATEVER! CLICK or COPY & PASTE.... http://cinch.fm/spiritedconcept/473432 Greetings! Blogfam WHATEVER!!! And whatever ye do... This is how Colossians 3:17 opens. In this context, the appropriate definition of the word is: "Anything that... No matter what." Thus our verse could open like this... Colossians 3:17 NIV And anything that you do..... Or no matter what you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. WHATEVER in this context does not exclude any form of our behavior as servants of the Most High. In anything and no matter what our lifestyle must bring glory to the Almighty. The truth is that we really do not want to be on top of our Christian game all the time....at least that is true for some of us. Some of my Blogfam would choose to lay their religion down in order to satisfy their own personal agenda which has in no way been ratified by the Holy Spirit. It just feels like the right or the easiest or the most convenient behavior to engage at the time. Yet this verse eradicates the promotion of One's own personal agenda in order to establish the priority of God's word, God's will, and God's way in our lives. And WHATEVER makes it clear to all of us that nothing in our lives, in word or deed, is exempt from being done in the name of Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, a reality that we often face is the wavering witness of those of us who choose to go with a different definition of the word WHATEVER. For WHATEVER is also "Used to indicate Indifference to a state of affairs, situation, previous statement." It is a word that I know I have used when something just did not matter to me and when I have no interest in what is being read or said or done. Its just WHATEVER! WHATEVER is a clear expression to others that IT is unimportant, irrelevant, and a clue that IT is so not worth my time or attention or energy. It is WHATEVER! Have you ever used this word in this way? Have you ever heard anyone use this word in this way? How did it make you feel when you said it or when you heard it? WHATEVER! Blogfam, you know I like to keep it real in this space and during our time together so let me just say it... When it comes to the words and deeds of some of my sistas and brothas in Christ, far too many of us have a WHATEVER attitude!!! We intentionally seek to convey a message with our attitudes and our actions to indicate Indifference to a state of affairs, situation, or previous statement. Its the truth. We might as well all face it because at some point we have all said WHATEVER! AND we have all said so as it specifically relates to our words and deeds on behalf of the Kingdom of God. We have all been indifferent to the priority of our Creator's agenda for a countless number of reasons that seemed to be the best reason we could offer at the time when doing what was right in the name of Jesus was just WHATEVER! Friends, on today I invite you to eliminate your indifference toward Kingdom principles and priorities and in anything you do, no matter that you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of Jesus Christ. I am so glad that our God has not taken on a WHATEVER ATTITUDE with us. I am ecstatic that our God is not indifferent in His love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, favor, patience, purpose, and goodness toward us! HALLELUJAH! can you imagine if Jesus had said WHATEVER before He took his last breath to die for our sins? Blogfam, When we say or do WHATEVER in order to indicate our Indifference to a state of affairs, situation, or doprevious statements regarding God's word, God's will, or God's way, we are being disobedient and we are denying opportunities for the light of Christ to shine brightly through us. Everytime we say WHATEVER we tone it down and we can tone it down until we turn it off and truly see that our WHATEVER gets us no where in the advancement of the Kingdom of God. So Blogfam, on today I simply pray that you would appreciate the content of this verse and that you would decide that you would faithfully live accordingly. And WHATEVER...anything that you do..... Or no matter what you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. PS... I am still blogging on the go... PURE INSPIRATION

3:17 PURE INSPIRATION LISTEN NOW!!! click or copy and paste url...http://cinch.fm/spiritedconcept/472588 Greetings! Blogfam, On last Thursday, I was one of several guest speakers at a local Middle School who had come to share with 8th grade students for Career Day. In my conversation with these young scholars, one of the questions that I asked them is this: what inspires you? Who or what inspires you to dream, to think outside of the box, to pursue greatness, to be excellent? I received a variety of responses to this question including: mom, dad, teacher, best friend, nature, music, and one student said that she was inspired by herself. I asked these students who or what inspires them and she said i am inspired by myself. I asked her what she meant by that. And she said I motivate myself to do what i need to do. Blogfam, I want to ask you the same question. Who or what inspires you? Who or what is your primary motivation? I wonder what your response will be and i wonder if that source of inspiration were no longer available or or was inaccessible or was avoiding you or had abandoned you, would you be enough to keep you going? I know this sounds like a strange question but I do think it is a valid and necessary question to consider. That eighth grader is already on to something by expressing her truth that she is inspired simply because she is alive. I appreciated that reminder of how powerful we are when we can inspire and motivate ourselves to press on. In acknowledging and truly appreciating that we can be inspired by our ourselves we will experience a freedom and an abiding sense of self assurance that will inevitably inspire others. Friends, do not discount the power of you being you and you inspiring you to be you! Furthermore, if you believe that you are a son or daughter of the Most High you are able to draw your inspiration from a place that is deeper and even more reliable than you. As I stated in the introduction to this series, Colossians 3:17 is one of my favorite verses. It inspires me. It motivates me. And it will never fail. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. My sistas and brothas, I believe that as our lives are hidden in Christ and grounded in his love, we are able to draw unlimited inspiration from his presence in our lives. We are able to speak and to act in the name of Jesus. We are able to live our lives for the glory of God and that is the purest form of inspiration. Friends, again I ask you... What inspires you? Is it someone or something else? Is it you? Or is it the simple pleasure of giving God glory with your life in word and deed? WELCOME TO 3:17!!! PS... I am still blogging on the go... 3:17 INTRODUCTION.... Colossians 3:17

Posted on May 14, 2012 at 4:27 PM Comments comments (0)
3:17 intro Colossians 3:17 NIV And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Greetings! BlogFam - On today we will begin a new series. I have not completely decided on the official title of this series which is a first. I usually have a title at the beginning of every series we have begun so this is different. Yet I trust that the title i have chosen will be sufficient and i trust that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide us along our journey to becoming - to borrow the language of Marvin Sapp - stronger, better, and wiser. So let us begin... Colossians 3:17 is one of my favorite verses in the bible. Colossians 3:17 NIV And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. This verse carries alot of weight as it relates to my life, my ministry, my decisions, my relationships, my dreams, my vision, and my WHATEVER I do whether in word or deed. Today I amwould like to invite you to think through the language of this advice from Paul to the church at Colossae and even now to us for it leaves no room for those who adhere to its sentiment to become stronger, wiser, and better. Blogfam, the title of our new series is simply 3:17......for now and possibly also for later. I know its not fancy or clever, innovative or creative but today, it works. And unless otherwise instructed as we go and grow together through this series, well, I will share any changes with you at such time. Until then... Welcome to 3:17!!! I believe that this series will fertilize the seed of purpose that was placed inside of each of us when God formed us in our mother's womb. I know that so much has been written, spoken, discussed, facilitated, coached, and consulted on discovering and cultivating and living out one's purpose. I have been apart of a countless number of all of the above and today I come to you as another humble yet passionate voice sharing my perspective which I am convinced will help at least one somebody in my Blogfam. So as we embark upon this journey, I pray that you are open and I pray that you would allow our reflections together to penetrate your mind and your spirit as you intake this fertilizer through your body's eye gate or ear gate. I am so excited because I only have a minor clue about where the Holy Spirit will lead us but I know that we will all grow from this fertilizing experience. And so let us pray this simple prayer as we prepare to begin... Holy One, Speak to our hearts and lead us, guide us, along the way. And whatever we do, whether in word or deed, may we do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. IN JESUS NAME we pray..... AMEN. WELCOME TO 3:17!!! PS... I am still blogging on the go... More details in due season... Thanks for your patience!!! God loves You and I do Too!!!
