Into Your HANDS, I Commit My Spirit - Luke 23:46

“Father, Into thy hands, I commit my spirit” (Luke 23:46) Click on Logo to LISTEN NOW! God of Safety and Security, Risks and Spontaneity – We thank you that you have chosen to give us life. We thank you that we can commit our lives to
your care. We thank you that you hold
our lives and this whole world in the palm of your hands. We confess that we have tried to take our lives in our
own hands. We confess that we have made decisions
about our lives that have ignored the places your hands would guide us. We confess that we have – at times – walked away
from the care of your hands. As we consider your final statement on the cross at
Calvary, we see a picture of your commitment to God and to us. This last word was spoken before you took
your last breath signifying your total surrender to the will of God. Father, into thy hands, I commit my spirit. You chose to entrust your life into the hands of the
Almighty. We may never understand
completely why and to be honest, we have often shunned that level of trust BUT
you have shown us that in life and death, in joy and sorrow, in wealth and
poverty, in health and sickness, in hope and despair, we can place our lives in
the care of your mighty hands. Your hands will not fail us. Your hands will not fumble us. Your hands will not forego their commitment to us. Great is the faithfulness of your hands! Thank You Lord God for your careful, comforting, and
caressing hands. Thank you Lord God for
your purposeful, powerful, and playful hands.
Thank you Lord God for your generous, guiding, and giving hands. Lord, may we always seek to commit our mind, body,
soul, spirit, and strength to your hands.
May our hands possess the characteristics that show to the world that we
are witnesses to what we have experienced by your hands. And when we fall short in our commitment, may we feel
the loving presence of your hands gathering us, carrying us, and hovering over
us until we are in the palm of your hands – until we are in the place you have
reserved for us to be in your hands. IN THE NAME OF THE ONE WHOSE HANDS WILL NEVER LEAVE US
NOR FORSAKE US… AMEN. IT IS FINISHED! - John 19:30

IT IS FINISHED (John 19:30) Click Logo to LISTEN NOW! God who is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End – We thank you that there is nothing that happens in our
lives that escapes you. You know our end
and you know our beginning. You know
every season and transition. You know
every thought and every move. Awesome
God, You know it all and You make our life complete. And now as we reflect on the finished work of Christ at
Calvary, we say THANK YOU for completing your work on the cross. We thank you that you did not leave your work
undone but you gave up everything, including your life, for all. We thank you that your sacrifice was not
restricted to the elite, well-to-do, literate, male, Jewish citizens of that
day, but your sacrifice, your blood covers the lives of WHOSOEVER
believes. We thank you that you began your
ministry with a clear mission, endured the challenges, dismissed the
distractions and completed your earthly mission on the cross at Calvary. We thank you because IT IS FINISHED and there
is nothing that we can do to add or take away from what you have finished. So, Lord, now we ask for clarity and conviction to commence,
continue, and complete our personal ministries on this earth. We ask that you would help us to know exactly
what we are supposed to do and then give us the energy, creativity, resources, and
stability to do all that you have assigned us to do in this life. May we not leave any of our work undone. May we remain prayerful and focused on the
tasks at hand. May we resist any temptation
to do less than our best for the Kingdom of God. May we see that your will be done in and
through us on earth as it is in heaven and may we see it all through until the
end. IN THE NAME OF THE ONE WHO HAS BEGUN A GOOD WORK IN US
AND WILL SEE IT THROUGH TO THE END… AMEN Delesslyn Twitter - @AudraSunshine Email - [email protected] ***MY FIRST BOOK*** Step Out of the Boat: An Invitation to Walk on Water Click on Picture of Cover to Purchase TODAY!!! I Thirst - John 19:28

“I thirst” (John 19:28) Click Logo to LISTEN NOW! God of Living Water – We come to you on today, acknowledging that we have tried
to quench the thirsts of our lives in so many ways. We have sought to quench our thirsts with
people, money, things, accomplishments, recognition, and so much more. We admit that when we do not seek you first,
we remain thirsty. Lord, we confess that you are the one who can quench
every thirst we have – especially the thirsts of our soul. We confess that our personal priorities have at
times risen above the concerns of Christ and in pursuing our personal
priorities we become parched. Lord, we
confess that our actions have also caused others to be less than satisfied and
their thirst persists due to our lack of witness, refusal to share, and
feelings that we are not our brother’s or our sister’s keeper. Lord, forgive us for not drinking from your well. Forgive us for not sharing the refreshment we
have received from you with those who are dry and thirsty around us. And Lord, forgive us for not trusting that
the ways you satisfy us are more than enough and exceed abundantly above all we
could ever ask or think. When you cried I THIRST for physical relief on the
cross at Calvary, you were given a bitter concoction that intensified the pangs
of your death. Your thirst was dismissed
as the cry of a weak man and responded to as one whose death would not free the
ones who put you there. And while this
happened thousands of years ago, we can only imagine the thirst you continue to
feel when your creation refuses to love you in spite of the new mercies you
extend every morning. So, Living Water, on today, we THANK YOU for being the
God who quenches our thirsty souls. We
THANK YOU for another opportunity to prioritize drinking from your fountain. We THANK YOU for the contentment that comes
from satisfying ourselves with you. And
we ask that You would quench our thirsts in fresh and creative ways so that we
will always feel your presence as the dew in the morning, gently resting upon
our thirsty souls. IN THE NAME OF THE ONE WHOSE FOUNTAIN NEVER RUNS DRY…

My God, Why has thou forsaken me? - Matthew 27:46

“My God, Why have You forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46) Click Logo to LISTEN NOW! Transcendent and Intimate God – God who is so far beyond us and yet so very near to us
- We come to you in this moment with mixed feelings. In this life, we have moments of sunshine and
moments of rain but there are times when the sun and the rain come at the same
time. And when the Lord cries out to you
from the cross, feeling forgotten and forsaken, yet purposeful and prepared, we
have a glimpse of his acquaintance with the reality of our human
condition. This was one of those mixed
feeling moments that we have and that Jesus had. My God why have you forsaken me? Lord God, we have had many mixed feeling moments in our
lives and have cried out in the way that Jesus did from the cross. We have cried out at the report of gang violence
and rejoiced at graduation ceremonies.
We have cried out at the realities of racism and at the rewards of repentance. We have cried out at the retardation of
values and the redemption of perpetrators of violence. In these and in so many other moments of
mixed feelings that seem to put us at a crossroads of divine destination and derailing
devastation, we have heard the cry of men and women as well as our own voice
exclaim – My God, why have you forsaken me? And to our cry, you lovingly remind us that you are
with us always – in the sunshine and the rain – your presence remains the
same. So, in this moment, we say THANK
YOU that our cry does not scare you or push you away. We thank you that you are able and willing to
respond when what we are called to do also causes us to cry out in desperation
for relief and rest. We thank you that
our cry is welcomed as a prayer acknowledging your power to deliver us or to
give us the strength to make it through. We thank you for your holy perspective that
sees beyond these moments and is so in touch with us in these same moments. God, we pray that in these moments of mixed feelings
that you would remind us that all things will mix and work together for our
good. May we be an encouragement to
others who are experiencing the smooth and the rough spots at the same time
along their journey. And may we always
look to you for you are never far away and when we feel forsaken, that is when
you are closest to us. IN THE NAME OF THE ONE WHO HEARS AND RESPONDS TO OUR
CONFUSING CRIES… AMEN. Behold your son, Behold your mother - John 19:26-27

“Behold your son, Behold your mother” John 19:26-27 Click Logo to LISTEN NOW! Concerned and Comforting God, On today, we look to you to dry our tears, those that
wet our face and those that drench our heart.
Life has a way of expressing itself through our tears and we thank you
for bottling every tear, for wiping them all away. And we look forward to the day where we will
not have to cry anymore! But until that
day, we look to you to care for us in the midst of our tears. We thank you for showing us that you are concerned with
our well-being by making provisions for your mother while you hung from the
cross. We thank you for showing us that
you will comfort us at any time and at any place. We thank you for extending your love toward
us and not dismissing us in our weeping moments. Lord, we ask that you would give us a tender heart of
compassion. We admit that we have ignored
and even mocked the tears of those around us.
We have been insensitive to the pain, the grief, the hurt of those who
cry in our midst and so we ask you to forgive us. May we love our neighbor as we love ourselves
by expressing our prayers and genuine concern in their time of need. And we lift up those who are in tears even as
we now pray, may they be comforted by your rich presence, however you choose to
come. And Lord, may we embrace the many ways you choose to
bring comfort to us – a word, a song, a flower, or a friend. May we never choose to reject your comfort
but may we receive it with grace and share it with others. Thank you for holding your mother and the
disciple whom you loved in your care and when we find ourselves in tears, may
we find that same care in you. IN THE NAME OF THE ONE WHO KNOWS HOW IT FEELS TO CRY… AMEN. Today, You Shall be With Me in Paradise - Luke 23:43
Posted on April 3, 2012 at 8:35 AM |
![]() |
“Today, You shall be with me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43) Click Logo to LISTEN NOW! Welcoming God, We thank you for the invitation to be with you in
paradise, to sit at the heavenly table, and to rest eternally from our life’s
labor. We thank you for showing hospitality
to all regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, age, intellectual capacity,
economic status, and social clout. We
thank you for showing us what it means to be unselfishly gracious even in the
most painful moments. We thank you for reminding
us that the Kingdom of God is accessible to the innocent and the guilty, the pulpit
and the pew, the ignorant and the wise. We
thank you for the invitation to be with you in paradise. Now, Lord, we ask that you would give us the kind of
love that would compel us to invite others into your paradise. May we not be selfish with the Gospel that
has transformed our lives. May we let
our light so shine that others will see our good works and give you glory. May we resist the temptation to exclude those
who are different from us, those whose neighborhoods we avoid and whose
physical challenges have been discriminated against. May we look for places at the table where new
faces can join in the celebration of life and hope in the presence of the
holy. May we be intentional about
creating a paradise here on earth so that our love for our neighbors is not a
secret or a burden, a chore or a yoke. But
may we find liberation in loving our neighbors and joy in seeing new people
accept your invitation to paradise. We thank you for the invitation to be with you in
paradise. And Lord, when paradise does
not look or feel glamorous, when paradise is not immediate or fit into our
schedule, when paradise includes those we might have overlooked or
underestimated, may we repent for forgetting that your paradise is so far
beyond our imagination. May we repent for
forgetting that your paradise cannot be limited to the confines of earthly
boundaries or the intolerance of human prejudice. May we repent for forgetting that you are God
and your thoughts are higher than our thoughts, your ways are higher than our
ways. May we repent for forgetting that this
is your paradise. And now, Lord, we say yes, and yes again to your
invitation. We accept your invitation to be with you in paradise
and to experience life and life more abundantly. We accept your invitation to joy unspeakable and
peace that surpasses all understanding.
We accept your invitation to walk by faith and not by sight. We accept your invitation to be with you in
paradise. Thank you for inviting us! IN THE NAME OF THE ONE WHO LOVES TO INVITE THE
UNEXPECTED GUESTS… AMEN. Father, Forgive Them... - Luke 23:34
Posted on April 2, 2012 at 10:46 AM |
![]() |
“Father, Forgive Them” (Luke
23:34) Click Logo to LISTEN NOW! Greetings! BlogFam, this week will be a week of prayer via
blog. We will spend this week in
prayerful reflection upon the Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ from the cross. Please join us everyday for prayer and invite
others to pray along with us. Let us pray… Forgiving God, We come as men and women created in your holy
image. We come as men and women who have
often been distracted by conversations, images, and activities that do not
reflect your holiness. We come as men
and women who seek your forgiveness so that we can be restored into right
relationship with you. On today, we acknowledge that ignorant minds and
rebellious hearts nailed you to the cross yet you prayed that the Almighty would
forgive. We acknowledge that you endured
verbal insults and social rejection yet you prayed that the Almighty would
forgive. We also acknowledge that your
unconditional love and tender mercy was beaten and bruised, despised and denounced
yet you prayed that the Almighty would forgive. “Father, Forgive THEM for they know not what they do.” And Lord, we will never fully understand the expanse of
your forgiveness but we are grateful that you have extended your forgiveness in
our direction. Therefore, we confess that
we have not been as forgiving as we should have been. We confess that we have not sought to be
forgiven as often as we should have done. And
we confess that sometimes our words of forgiveness have not released the one to
whom we said was forgiven because we are still bound in our hearts and in our
minds. So, help us Lord to forgive as we have been forgiven. Help us to forgive those who have tried to
crucify our hopes, our dreams, our purpose, our inspiration, our imagination,
our love, our peace, and our faith. Lord,
help us to forgive ourselves for the ways we have kept ourselves from
experiencing the joys of a life filled with your word, your will, your way – A life
filled with YOU. Lord, help us to humbly
seek the forgiveness of those to whom we have said or done anything to dishonor
the holy within them. Father, forgive US for we know what we have done. Forgive us and restore us into right relationship so
that we can love you with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength AND love
ourselves AND love our neighbors as we love ourselves. IN THE NAME OF THE ONE WHO FORGIVES beyond our capacity
to understand… AMEN.
