My Vision Fast
January 10, 2020

Get Ready. Get Set.  Now Wait.

Greetings!
Friends, one of the last things we want to do when we need an answer from the Lord is WAIT.  I mean, let’s keep it real.  Doesn’t the Lord already know all things?  So, why can’t the Lord just go ahead and reveal all those things to us?  It seems that it would make sense for the Lord to not keep us waiting since he loves us and cares about us and all of that.  Yet, in spite of all of that love, the Lord will make us wait.

Some of us have been waiting for a while and some of us just started waiting for whatever our prayer requests involved.  Some of us are tired of waiting and some of us are not yet tired.  Some of us have preoccupied ourselves during the waiting time with activities and relationships that in the back of our minds, we know are going nowhere but we need “something” to do while we wait.  Some of us have secluded ourselves so as not to get overly distracted by the options that seem to present themselves as credible solutions to our prayer concerns.

Friends, this waiting period is something else.  Honestly, if you are not waiting on one thing, you are most likely waiting on something else.  You might not be waiting for the new baby to arrive but you still waiting on that promotion.  You might not be waiting for him to propose but you still waiting for that check to clear.  You might not be waiting for a response to your email but you are still waiting for your neighbor to get their act together.  Friends, people talk about the storms and how if you are not in one, you are on your way to one or walking through one or you just got out of one.  But what about this waiting period? Perhaps you are waiting right now and if you are not already waiting, you just got through waiting or you are about to start waiting.

I think we are always waiting. Always. Waiting. I think we are always waiting for Something or Someone or Some way or Somehow. Waiting.  And honestly, we need to just prepare ourselves, every time we pray, for the waiting period.  It is not like we do not know that waiting is not part of life’s journey.  But yet we still get frustrated by the reality we already know is inevitable – waiting.

When we read the response of the Lord to Habakkuk about vision, I cannot help but to consider the time that Habakkuk watched for and waited for the Lord’s response.  We jump to the writing of the vision in this passage, but Habakkuk had to wait way before he wrote.  Perhaps that is the reminder that we need today.  You have got to wait for the word of the Lord to come into your life and wait for the word of the Lord to manifest in your life.  Even after Habakkuk was told to write the vision, he was told that the vision was for an appointed time, it would not tarry, and to WAIT for it.  That whole word from the Lord feels like such a major contradiction.  Habakkuk not only had to wait for the vision, Habakkuk had to also then wait with a vision.

For the vision is yet for THE appointed time, it testifies about the end and will not lie; though it delays, wait for it, since it will certainly come and not be late. [Habakkuk 2:3]

Friends, we have got to wait.  We have got to pray and then position ourselves to watch and wait for the word from the Lord.  Then, when we receive that word, we have got to write it down and wait again. So, get ready. Get set. Now wait.

Wait.
Wait.
Wait for it.
Wait for it some more.
And wait some more for it.
And at THE appointed time, it will surely come to pass…

WAIT ON IT!

Greetings!

HAPPY NEW YEAR BlogFam!
I hope and pray that 2016 has started off with much excitement and a renewed energy for your life's goals, dreams, and aspirations!  I hope and pray that you are focused and doing all that you can to THRIVE!   And I hope and pray that your desire to grow in the knowledge of our Lord is your highest priority!

Friends, a new year is a new beginning.  New beginnings are opportunities to start over, make amends, get on track, moving in a direction that hopefully is better and more productive than before.  New beginnings  are opportunities to rediscover your purpose and reignite your passion to live your best life.  New beginnings are opportunities for fresh ways of seeing God's movement in your life and for embracing God's will for your life.  A new year is a new beginning.  And a new beginning is full of potential, hope, and promise of brighter days ahead.
But, BlogFam, do not get anxious or restless or overly frustrated by one inevitable reality that comes with every new beginning... the waiting period.  For with every new beginning, there is a waiting period.  I just want you to know that now.  I do not want you to be blindsided  or caught off guard or feel tricked by the waiting period.  I want you to know up front that there will be a waiting period at the point of every new beginning.

Think about it.  When you begin a new job or a new relationship or move into a new house, there is a waiting period.  We wait for all paperwork to be processed.  We wait for the first phone call.  We wait for the keys to be handed over.  Waiting is an inevitable reality that comes with every new beginning.

We wait for yes.  We wait for no.  We wait for maybe.  And I love you all too much to let you think that your new beginning will not carry you through a period of waiting.  As fast as you want to jump right in and get things going, at some point, you will have to wait.

And waiting does not necessarily mean that there is something wrong or someone has lied or that circumstances have changed.  It could mean one or none of those things but either way, you will be waiting.  And waiting is good.  I know that you may not want to hear that.  We want everything quick, fast, and in a hurry OR we at least want it to happen in what we personally deem a reasonable period of time that we would consider a quick turnaround in line with our own level of patience.  I know that there are times when I have to wait and in my own mind, I have consciously or unconsciously set a "deadline" for something to happen or for someone to respond, etc.  And that may or may not have been communicated, but that clock is ticking in my head.  What about you?  Let's be honest.   I know we all do.  Even the most laid back of personalities is doing that mental check in that we all do, even if nothing is said.

And then we still have to wait.

But waiting is good.  Waiting in some respects gives us time to process, to further investigate, to pray, to step back before we engage in something or with someone that with more time have decided is not the best for our lives.  Waiting is good.  Waiting is kind of like a grace period that humbles us and reminds us that we are human and convicts us that God's timing is not our timing.   Waiting is good.  And at some point I hope you recall that someone has, is, or will have to wait for you.

Friends, EVERYBODY has to wait.  Waiting comes with every new beginning.   Therefore, since we love new beginnings, starting over, starting fresh, we must come to terms with the waiting period that will follow.

So, do not let your waiting be in vain!  Embrace your waiting period as you never have before!  Reprogram your thinking about waiting.  Develop a strategy for what you will do while you wait.  And encourage yourself in your next waiting period.  Above all, TRUST GOD and know this...

They that WAIT upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. [Isaiah 40:31]

GOD LOVES YOU and I DO TOO!
Blessings! Glory! And Sunshine!

STRETCH MARKS: Growing Through the Wait - Psalm 62:5-7

Posted on December 29, 2011 at 7:23 AM Comments comments (7)
Greetings!

Do you have any stretch marks?  I know this is a personal question but when people gain weight or when women are pregnant, there is a mark that is likely to appear on their skin when it has been stretched beyond its original intent.  This mark is called a STRETCH MARK.  The American Heritage Online Medical Dictionary defines stretch mark in this way: A shiny line on the skin of the abdomen, breasts, thighs, or buttocks caused by the prolonged stretching of the skin and weakening of elastic tissues, as in pregnancy or obesity.  Now, these marks on the body are not the kind of  marks that I have ever heard anyone brag about in the way that someone might brag about a new tattoo or piercing.  No one that I know is excited about having stretch marks.  In fact, I am pretty sure that erasing such marks is on their TO DO list.

A stretch mark is a clue ON your body that something has changed.  A stretch mark is a clue ON your body that something is different.  A stretch mark is a clue ON your body that there has definitely been some kind of change IN your body and your skin has thereby stretched  in order to accommodate what has happened within. Now, we may not ever see the exact moment when the stretch mark appears, but when it does appear, it indicates that there has been a change which has caused you to grow out of a place where you once were.  Obviously, the type of growth that one experiences in that season might be painful or it might be pleasurable but whether it was painful or pleasurable, men and women can end up with the same type of marks ON their bodies.  Stretch marks are physical marks that prove that growth has taken place over the course of time.

Do you have any stretch marks?  I am not asking you to strip and check for such indications  ON your own body.  [Although if you have them, you are probably clear that you do and are unlikely to admit it. :-)]  But I AM asking you to do an internal check-up for stretch marks you have received as a result of your growth in this season of waiting.  Is there any external indication through your attitude, your spiritual disciplines, your participation in worship that something is changing on the inside of you?  Do you have any stretch marks?  While you are waiting, are you growing UP in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?

I have stretch marks.  YES, I will admit it.  I do. I have the badges of honor that prove that I have been stretched, that I have grown in ways that YOU may not ever see. I have experienced life in ways that have changed me through pain and through pleasure.  I have stretch marks.  Now, I am not about to post a picture of my stretch marks [the stock pic  above from Google images will suffice (LOL)]; but My Creator knows they are there and I know they are there and I am under no obligation to prove that I have them.  My stretch marks prove that I have been through things that pushed me beyond what I thought was my limit into a place where trust in God was [and still is] my highest priority.  Some people might say that my stretch marks are ugly or that I should find some over the counter product or prophet in order to rectify my situation but I choose to think of my stretch marks as beautiful reminders that I am growing in ways that not even I can see. I am growing in ways that may never be apparent to the natural eye. I am growing in a variety of ways over a prolonged period of time and it remains to be seen what my God will do within me exceeding abundantly above what I may ask or think.

One thing that I am clear about during this period of waiting and stretching, is expressed in Psalm 62:

My soul, wait thou only upon God;for my expectation is from him.

He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defense; I shall not be moved.

In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.

In other words, as I wait to hear from God, there are ways that I expect to grow and be changed.  As I am transformed, I have the blessed assurance of knowing that GOD is my rock, my salvation, my defense, my stabilizer, my glory, my strength, and my refuge.  I like how The Message Bible puts it:
GOD IS MY SAFE PLACE TO BE!

So, while you may insult or criticize my stretch marks, I will pray for you but I will NOT dwell on you because my expectation is from Him and by His grace and mercy, I have been honored with these marks to prove that I AM HIS OWN.  AND while I am waiting to step into the next realm of the Master’s plans for my life, I am open to receive whatever changes in my life - including stretch marks - that are necessary in order to prepare me and to prove to me that my wait is NOT in vain.

The WAITING Game - Psalm 25:2-4

Posted on December 25, 2011 at 8:04 AM Comments comments (4)
Greetings!!!

On your mark. Get Ready. Get Set. Now WAIT!  Lord, have mercy that is NOT what I wanted to hear! WAIT?  Is this some kind of joke or something? WAIT?  What does that mean?  And how was I signed up because I need to take my name OFF of that list!?!?!

In my family we play a lot of games.  One of the games we LOVE to play is UNO.  We play UNO but we play by our OWN rules.  We can even make up the rules as we go, which confuses other friends or family members that have dared to play with my siblings and I.  There is one version of the game which we play that we call SPEED UNO where you only have like THREE seconds to play your card.  Usually, when we play SPEED UNO, my brother is counting out loud in a very rhythmic and intimidating voice – One. Two. Three.  One. Two. Three. One. Two Three.  The players get flustered and you can’t think because the game is moving so fast! Players miss their turn and put down the wrong cards and have even given up or tried to cheat under the pressure.  One. Two. Three.  One. Two.Three.  It can be so intense and exhilarating and SO MUCH FUN at the same time!

Unfortunately, in this game of life, there really is no way to speed it up or slow it down.  No matter what you do or how you even pray, you CANNOT speed up or slow your life down. There are still 24 hours in a day, seven days in a week and there is NOTHING that you can do about that.  One of the things that makes the most difference in HOW the time feels as it passes is what we are doing in that time. Sometimes, we are forced to play the waiting game and we did not ask to play.  We asked God to move in our lives and in God’s wisdom, instead of a three second turnaround, it was or has been three days, three weeks, three months, or three years, etc. AND our best move in the game is to simply WAITTHE WAITING GAME is not always fun to play but the rules of the game are outlined in the Word of God. THE WAITING GAME only has ONE guarantee – When you wait on GOD, you will NOT be ashamed!

Psalm 25:2-4
O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed:let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.

BlogFam, as you wait for the next move of God in your life, I want you to know that your opponent, the enemy, the evil one  will NOT be playing fair.  You will feel like the rules are changing.  You will feel intimidated.  You will feel alone.  You will feel confused.  These are all tactics of the enemy to get you off of your game but TRUST in GOD!  Ask God to show you the godly way to wait and to teach you the paths where you are to go while you wait or if you should be still. STAY FOCUSED on the game plan in the Word of God and let the Holy Spirit determine your next moves.  I promise you– well, actually, BETTER than that, stand on the promises of the WORD that declares YOU WILL NOT BE ASHAMED when you wait on God!
